A Phase -Locking Synchronizer for Stabilizing Reflex Klystrons

چکیده

MICROWAVE signal sources of high fre quency-stability and spectral purity are increasingly important to many fields. These include doppler systems, nuclear spectroscopy measurements, spectrum analyzers, as well as telemetry, radio astronomy, and other com munications-type work. All of these applica tions are characterized by the need for good shortand long-term stability as well as low residual f-m noise over a wide spectrum about the operating frequency. To meet these stability demands, -hp-'s Dymec division has developed a versatile frequency-stabilizing instrument that gives high stability to typical microwave frequency sources. The instrument is a synchronizer which phase locks a reflex klystron to a de sired frequency between 1 and 12.4 gigacycles. The frequency is a harmonic (± the i-f fre quency) of a crystal oscillator in the Synchron izer, and the klystron, when so controlled, pro vides a signal virtually as stable and spectrally pure as the rf crystal reference itself. When thus synchronized, the klystron will have a shortterm stability of 1 /10s (averaged over one sec ond) and a long term stability of 1/10° per week. At the same time residual fm in the klystron due to power supply ripple will be

Size-Independent Self-Stabilizing Asynchronous Phase Synchronization in General Graphs

In this paper, we design a self-stabilizing phase synchronizer for distributed systems. The synchronizer enables a node transfer from one phase to the next one, subject to the condition that at most two consecutive phases can appear among all nodes. It does not rely on any system parameter like the number of nodes, and is thus fit for the system with dynamically changing number of nodes. Each n...

Evaluation of Phase Locking and Cross Correlation Methods for Estimating the Time Lag between Brain Sites: A Simulation Approach

Introduction: Direction and latency of electrical connectivity between different sites of brain explains brain neural functionality. We compared efficiency of cross correlation and phase locking methods in time lag estimation which are based on local field potential (LFP) and LFPspike signals, respectively. Methods: Signals recorded from MT area of a macaque’s brain was used in a simulation ...

Self-Stabilizing Neighborhood Synchronizer in Tree Networks

We propose a self-stabilizing synchronization technique, called the Neighborhood Synchronizer (NS), that synchronizes nodes with their neighbors in a tree network. The NS scheme has extremely small memory requirement— only 1 bit per processor. Algorithm NS is inherently selfstabilizing. We apply our synchronizer to design a broadcasting algorithm BA in tree networks. Algorithm BA is also inhere...

The Transient Behavior of LC and Ring Oscillators under External Frequency Injection

In this work, time domain analysis is used to solve Adler’s equation in order to obtain the required time, for an oscillator under external injection, reaching the steady-state condition. Mathematical approach has been applied to fully describe the transient of frequency acquisition in injection-locked LC and Ring oscillators considering their time-varying nature. Then, the analysis is verifie...

Self-Stabilization with Global Rooted Synchronizers

We propose a self-stabilizing synchronization technique, called the Global Rooted Synchronization, that synchronizes processors in a tree network. This synchronizer converts a synchronous protocol for tree networks into a self-stabilizing version. The synchronizer requires only O(1) memory (other than the memory needed to maintain the tree) at each node regardless of the size of the network, st...
